Aromatherapy Tip

Mucus membranes, our body’s natural defense system, need an optimum temperature of 65 – 85 degrees and a clean, moist environment to function well. Apart from the chilly outdoors, our bodies have to bear the brunt of heating systems, trapped pollutants and closed windows. Dry, particle-laden air irritates the mucous membranes thus lowering their defense mechanism and making us more susceptible to infections. Breathe easy and protect yourself from illness¬† with essential oils like Eucalyptus Globulus, Niaouli, Ravensara and Tea Tree mixed with a teaspoon of table salt.¬† These essential oils are known to restore the natural balance of the body so that it is better equipped to fight off germs. Usage:
  • Add 1 teaspoon of table salt mixed with 2 drops of any of the above mentioned oils to a bowl of hot water
  • Cover your head with a towel and deeply inhale the vapors for a few minutes
The vapors unclog the sinuses and replenish the lost moisture from mucous membranes. Do this twice a day for best results.   Related Articles How to Use Essential Oils Part 1 Methods of Use of Tea Tree Oil Essential Oils for Respiratory Conditions Essential Oils and Acupressure Points for Allergies Unclog Your Sinuses with Essential Oils
