As much as I love where I live, I also love getting out and seeing as many corners of the world as I can. I’ve been really lucky this year. So far, I’ve already been to Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, and South Florida, and I’ve got plans to visit New York, New Orleans, and maybe even Peru.
Whether you’re traveling for work or for fun, there’s one thing you’ve got to bring along with you — the right essential oils! With just a little bit of knowledge under your belt, you can turn your essential oils into the perfect traveling companion.
Personally, I use them for all kinds of reasons, including:
– Warding off germs on crowded planes and in busy hotels
– Helping to keep me calm during flights
– Making my hotel room smell like my comfy, familiar home
– Keeping me energized through an entire day of sightseeing
– Relieving muscle pain after a day of walking or a night of dancing
– Helping with any digestive problems I encounter along the way
What’s the best way to fit essential oils into a suitcase that’s already filled to capacity?
I’ve narrowed down my essential oil collection to a few “essentials” (pardon the pun!). All I need to reap the benefits we just talked about are:
– A travel-size container of carrier oil
– A travel-size empty spray bottle
Not only are these items small enough to be airline-approved, they’re also small enough to fit in your purse so that you can pull them out at a moment’s notice!
Which essential oils are best for your next trip?
– If you’re flying…
You need something to combat all of the stale, germ-filled air that’s floating around the plane, while also keeping you calm during all of the stress that comes with air travel. Personally, I love the Sleep Time blend, because it’s got relaxing Lavender as the main ingredient. All I do is sprinkle five drops onto a tissue or handkerchief and sniff it throughout the flight.
– If you’re staying in a hotel…
You need something that gives you some of the comforts of home. Personally, I love citrus oils because they have a clean, energetic scent. As an added benefit, citrus oils have natural antiseptic properties, which can come in handy even in the most luxurious of hotels!
This is where the spray bottle comes in. Simply fill it with water and add 15 drops of Citrus Delight blend. Then, spray the mixture onto your room’s doorknobs, mattress, pillows, and remote control. If you want a stronger scent, put five drops of this blend onto a tissue and stick it in the air conditioning vent.
– If you’re planning on eating your way through your next trip…
Traveling means temporarily changing up your eating habits and feasting on things that you probably wouldn’t at home. If all of those new foods start to take a toll on your digestive system, you’ll thank the heavens for this next tip!
When my tummy starts to act up, I give it a light massage, followed by a warm compress. And, of course, I use essential oils! For starters, I combine a capful of carrier oil with two drops of Citrus Delight and massage the mixture onto my abdomen. After that, I soak a washcloth in hot water and press it onto my tummy for five minutes. For me, it’s a surefire way to get rid of uncomfortable things like bloating and diarrhea.
– If you’re worried you won’t have enough energy to truly enjoy yourself…
I like to give my energy a boost right at the beginning of the day with an aromatic shower. All you need to do is squeeze four drops of Energia blend onto a washcloth. As the hot water and steam heat up the washcloth, your entire shower will turn into an aromatic oasis. (Don’t have an extra washcloth? Simply plug the tub and squeeze the oil blend into the hot water that collects at your feet!)
After your shower is done, you can boost your energy even more by massaging your back with half a capful of carrier oil and two drops of Energia. For me, this is exactly what I need before a long day!
– If you’ve overdone it…
When my muscles are begging for some relief, I turn to Memoria blend. It’s got a mixture of Peppermint (which has natural anti-inflammatory properties), Rosemary, and Cardamom (both of which help boost your circulation). Simply combine two drop with a capful of carrier oil, and massage your achy muscles.
Bottom line — no matter where you’re going, you can be safe, energized, and healthy on your next trip with just five essential oils. Even better, you can get them all from Aromandina!
