Mucus membranes, our body’s natural defense system, need an optimum temperature of 65 – 85 degrees and a clean, moist environment to function well.
Apart from the chilly outdoors, our bodies have to bear the brunt of heating systems, trapped pollutants and closed windows. Dry, particle-laden air irritates the mucous membranes thus lowering their defense mechanism and making us more susceptible to infections.
Breathe easy and protect yourself from illness with essential oils like Eucalyptus Globulus
and Tea Tree
mixed with a teaspoon of table salt. These essential oils are known to restore the natural balance of the body so that it is better equipped to fight off germs.
The vapors unclog the sinuses and replenish the lost moisture from mucous membranes. Do this twice a day for best results.
- Add 1 teaspoon of table salt mixed with 2 drops of any of the above mentioned oils to a bowl of hot water
- Cover your head with a towel and deeply inhale the vapors for a few minutes
